Orchid Care Guide
Orchids are far easier to keep than their reputation suggests. Follow these fundamentals and your plants will reward you with months of blooms.
Watering
Water roughly once a week, letting the roots dry between waterings. Soggy roots are the #1 cause of orchid loss — when in doubt, water less.
Light
Bright, indirect light is ideal. An east or shaded south window is perfect. Leaves should be a healthy grass-green, not dark green (too little light) or yellowish (too much).
Temperature & humidity
Most orchids thrive at 18–29°C with 50–70% humidity. A cooler night temperature helps trigger blooming.
Feeding
Use a balanced orchid fertiliser monthly during active growth. 'Weakly, weekly' — dilute and consistent — works best.
Re-blooming
After flowering, keep caring as usual; a slight day–night temperature swing encourages a fresh spike.
